SweGaN selected as one of Nordic Cleantech Open top 25 most innovative start-ups

SweGaN AB of Linköping, Sweden, which manufactures custom gallium nitride on silicon carbide (GaN-on-SiC) epitaxial wafers (based on a unique growth technology) for RF and power electronics devices, has been selected from among 140 promising Nordic and Baltic companies in the 9th Nordic Cleantech Open competition to be in the top 25 most innovative start-ups and ready-to-scale companies.

Selection of the top 25 contenders was conducted by an international jury of 50 members from venture capital firms, multinational companies, utility sector, public investors and more to analyse 140 applicants/contenders, on the basis of the level of innovation, market potential and ability of the team to execute. According to Nordic Cleantech Open, the 25 companies selected to participate in the next phases bring a wide variety of solutions gaining momentum and attention in the cleantech sector.

“SweGaN’s vision and mantra is cultivating positive environmental impact and reducing energy consumption through high-performance, competitively priced materials,” says SweGaN’s CEO Olof Kordina. “The SweGaN team is devoted to developing and producing materials that enable manufacturers to create end-products that will contribute to a cleaner future,” he adds.

In the next steps, the top 25 companies will meet the Nordic Cleantech Open jury on 28-29 March in Trolleholm, Sweden, where they will be invited to pitch and present their case, participate in one-to-one meetings and join additional networking activities. The top 10 selected companies will then move into the final phase together with Cleantech Scandinavia’s main event: Clean Energy Capital Day, on 12-13 May, in Lund, Sweden.
