HexaTech announces commercial availability of 100mm AlN substrate
HexaTech Inc of Morrisville, NC, USA (a subsidiary of Stanley Electric Co Ltd of Tokyo, Japan) has announced the immediate production release of its new 100mm-diameter single-crystal aluminium nitride (AlN) substrate product. The milestone directly builds on the launch of the firm’s 3-inch-diameter substrate launch in February.
“This 100mm product launch directly addresses the needs of our commercial optoelectronic and high-power radio frequency (RF) customers, by once again lowering the price per unit area threshold, allowing for ease of fabrication line insertion, and rapid scaling of device production,” says Gregory Mills, VP of business development.

“This tremendous accomplishment is the result of a focused development program, supported over the previous 20 years by both public and private investment, and the outstanding HexaTech team,” comments CEO John Goehrke.
“HexaTech’s established history of delivering AlN substrate material with market-leading structural and surface quality continues with this significant technical achievement,” states Dr Rafael Dalmau, HexaTech’s manager of research & development.
HexaTech’s full range of 2-inch, 3-inch and 100mm-diameter products are available now with standard lead times.
“This success will be the basis of our future expansion efforts, as we drive toward 150mm and beyond, and close the gap with other high-performance wide-bandgap materials,” adds Goehrke.
