UK Semiconductor Centre leads UK delegation to Taiwan
The UK Semiconductor Centre (UKSC) will lead a delegation of UK semiconductor companies and organizations to SEMICON Taiwan 2026 at TaiNEX in Taipei (2–4 September), reinforcing its role as the gateway to the UK semiconductor ecosystem and strengthening strategic partnerships between the UK and Taiwan.
The delegation to Taiwan will showcase the breadth of UK semiconductor capability across chip design and IP, compound semiconductors, integrated photonics, advanced materials, manufacturing equipment, AI hardware and next-generation computing technologies.
The UKSC is bringing together businesses to help forge new commercial, research and investment partnerships with one of the world’s most advanced semiconductor ecosystems.
The visit comes as international collaboration becomes increasingly important to the future of the global semiconductor industry, says the UKSC.
While Taiwan leads the world in semiconductor manufacturing, the UK has complementary capabilities that present significant opportunities for innovation, commercialisation and supply chain resilience, it is reckoned.
“The UK and Taiwan both have a long heritage in semiconductors and bring highly complementary strengths to the global semiconductor industry,” says the UKSC’s CEO Andy McLean. “We want to connect UK innovators with Taiwan’s manufacturing expertise and supply chain depth, while helping Taiwanese companies identify technologies, partners and supply chains and create new opportunities for businesses in both markets,” he adds. “I encourage companies, investors, researchers and industry leaders to speak to us whilst we’re in Taiwan and explore how we can work together.”
The mission reflects the UK Government’s ambition to strengthen the country’s position in high-value areas of the global semiconductor value chain. The UK is home to more than 700 semiconductor-related companies generating over £10bn in annual revenue.
UKSC was established in 2025 to accelerate the development of the UK’s semiconductor sector by connecting industry, academia and government, while helping companies to access investment, skills, infrastructure and international markets.
As the UK’s gateway for international engagement, the UKSC works to build strategic partnerships that support innovation, commercial growth and a more resilient global semiconductor ecosystem.
The UKSC-led delegation will be at the UK Pavilion throughout SEMICON Taiwan 2026, where delegates can meet with representatives and explore new opportunities for collaboration between the UK and Taiwan.
