Gallox Semiconductors wins 2025 Hello Tomorrow Global Challenge award

Gallox Semiconductors, a startup with roots in Cornell University, has won the 2025 Hello Tomorrow Global Challenge in the Advanced Computing & Electronics category.

Hello Tomorrow is an international competition that supports early-stage deep tech startups built on scientific breakthroughs. To win, startups must demonstrate technological innovation, the potential for significant impact, commercial viability, and strong leadership.

Gallox’s gallium oxide semiconductors are poised for applications in space technology, aviation, and electric vehicle charging. According to the company, gallium oxide offers superior energy efficiency compared to silicon carbide, currently the most widely used material in power electronics. The technology enables smaller, more powerful chips that could expand computing capabilities while reducing the environmental footprint of digital infrastructure.

Support from Cornell has played a critical role in Gallox’s research and commercialization progress.

“Access to clean rooms, advanced measurement tools, and characterization facilities—these are resources you don’t find just anywhere,” said Jon McCandless, CEO and co-founder of Gallox. “Without that support, this wouldn’t have been possible.”
