Luminus adds new models to MP-5050 Series of high-power LEDs
Luminus Devices Inc of Sunnyvale, CA, USA — which designs and makes LEDs and solid-state technology (SST) light sources for illumination markets — has added to its MP-5050 Series of high-power LEDs with the new MP-5050-240P and MP-5050-810P models, which deliver what is claimed to be industry-leading efficiency and reliability, designed specifically for demanding outdoor and commercial lighting applications.

Key features and benefits are listed as follows:
- Efficiency: delivers industry-leading efficacy of 244lm/W at 4000K for maximum energy savings at 70CRI;
- Long-lasting performance: meets DLC Premium standards with L90≥36,000 hours, ensuring extended lifespan and reliability;
- Rugged design: low thermal resistance enables superior heat dissipation, optimizing efficiency and durability, while ensuring full compatibility with standard pick-and-place automation and reflow soldering for effortless manufacturing integration;
- Engineered for demanding applications: suitable for expressway lights, streetlights, area lights, parking lots, post-top fixtures, floodlights, stadiums, tunnels, and high-bay lighting;
- Flexible voltage options: available in 6V (240P) and 24V (810P) for seamless compatibility with cost-effective, high-performance drivers;
- Precision light control: square light-emitting surface (LES) design enhances uniform light distribution and improves optical control for precise beam direction;
- Superior color consistency: Available in 3-step and 5-step MacAdam ellipse binning for excellent color uniformity across installations.
The MP-5050 Series features a 5.0mm x 5.0mm package with high efficacy and what is claimed to be excellent thermal performance. The MP-5050-240P operates at 180mA with a forward voltage of 5.2–5.6V, while the MP-5050-810P operates at 45mA with a forward voltage of 20–22V. Both models are available in multiple color temperature options ranging from 2700K to 6500K and CRI options of 70, 80 and 90+, allowing designers to select the ideal combination for their specific application requirements. Both models feature a viewing angle of 120° and an operating temperature range of –40°C to +105°C, making them suitable for a wide variety of environmental conditions. Their low thermal resistance of 2°C/W ensures reliable operation and extended lifespan even in challenging environments.
