MACOM Technology Solutions Inc (which makes semiconductors, components and subassemblies for RF, microwave, millimeter-wave and lightwave applications) has launched the MACP Series of high-performance power detectors with integrated, low-loss directional couplers, optimized for power monitoring and leveling in point-to-point radios, ISM (industrial, scientific & medical), radar, VSAT, EW (electronic warfare) and aerospace & defense applications.

The integrated solution of the directional coupler and temperature-compensated detector circuit enables users to simplify their system designs and lower their bill-of-materials (BOM) costs while preserving valuable board space.

MACP Series power detectors operate in frequency ranges of 2–6GHz (MACP-010571), 6–18GHz (MACP-010572) and 10–30GHz (MACP-010573), and provide low insertion loss and high directivity, enabling power monitoring along a transmission line. The devices are housed in lead-free, 1.5mm x 1.2mm surface-mount plastic packaging compatible with standard pick & place assembly equipment.

“For system designers seeking plug-and-play ease of use and design flexibility, MACOM’s MACP Series power detectors provide an elegant, integrated power monitoring solution,” says Graham Board, senior director of product marketing. “This family of footprint-compatible detectors covers 2-30GHz. Through the integration of the directional coupler and temperature-compensation circuit, we have developed easy-to-use, robust and cost-effective power detector solutions that are suitable for multiple power sensing missions.”

MACOM is showcasing its RF technology portfolio in booth #271 at European Microwave Week (EuMW 2018) in Madrid, Spain (25–27 September), featuring new product solutions optimized for 5G, wireless basestations, radar, test & measurement and industrial, scientific & medical (ISM) applications.
