Zeta hires senior executive from KLA-Tencor as chief operating officer

Zeta Instruments Inc of San Jose, CA, USA (which makes optical profiling and inspection systems for applications including high-brightness LEDs and solar cells) says that Jeff Donnelly has joined as its chief operating officer.

Donnelly’s career spans executive roles at startups and established tech leaders, including most recently a 15-year tenure at KLA-Tencor. Reporting to the CEO as group vice president of the Growth and Emerging Markets Group, he was responsible for driving KLA-Tencor's growth in multiple sectors including the LED and back-end semiconductor markets, and he played a central role in the firm’s mergers and acquisitions.

“The two of us have a long history of working together developing new products and entering new markets,” says Zeta’s CEO & founder Rusmin Kudinar. “In addition to being a seasoned public company executive, Jeff is a proven entrepreneur with a demonstrated track record of delivering innovative products, launching new companies and leading mergers and acquisitions,” he adds.

“With several industry-leading products under its belt and strong traction among a blue-chip customer base, Zeta is poised for significant growth,” believes Donnelly.

Donnelly has a Bachelor of Science degree in chemical engineering from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona and a Master’s in Business Administration from Stanford University. He has also served as a nuclear engineering officer in the US Navy.
