Pasternack launches 1W and 2W medium-power broadband amplifiers up to 18GHz

RF, microwave and millimeter-wave product maker Pasternack Enterprises Inc of Irvine, CA, USA has launched ten new 1 Watt and 2 Watt broadband amplifiers suitable for defense, EW/ECM (electronic warfare/electronic counter-measures), radar, test instrumentation, telecom, satcom, microwave radio and industrial applications from 2GHz to 18GHz.

The new medium-power broadband RF amplifiers are offered in 1 Watt and 2 Watt models and range in frequency from 2 to 18GHz depending on the RF amplifier configuration. The performance is achieved using a hybrid microwave integrated circuit design and gallium arsenide (GaAs) pseudomorphic high-electron-mobility transistor (pHEMT) technology.

The connectorized SMA amplifier modules are unconditionally stable and include built-in voltage regulation, bias sequencing, and reverse-bias protection for added reliability. Over-voltage protection is installed externally for easy repair. The high-reliability RF amplifiers are fully matched internally for 50Ohm input and output, eliminating the need for any additional sensitive external RF tuning components.

All ten new broadband amplifiers are housed in hermetically sealed modules and will operate from -55°C to +85°C. The new product range provides a choice of gain levels, frequency ranges and power outputs for specific requirements. The 1W and 2W broadband RF amplifiers have gain ranging from 32dB to 48dB, gain flatness from ±1dB to ±2dB at the higher frequency range of 12GHz to 18GHz, and high linearity levels (IP3) of 39dBm to 42dBm.

“Pasternack is embarking on a new market strategy to expand its industry leadership and brand recognition in the area of active products, aiming to provide the highest level of customer service and product selection to our customers,” says Active RF/Microwave product manager Michael Rachlin.
