LayTec appoints chief customer officer to head Application & Support Department, allowing head of R&D to focus on CTO role

LayTec AG of Berlin, Germany (which makes in-situ metrology systems for thin-film processes, focusing on compound semiconductor and photovoltaic applications) says that its Application and Support Department (A&S) is now headed by new chief customer officer (CCO) Dr Oliver Schulz (effective since January). Dr Kolja Haberland, who headed both A&S and R&D until the end of 2012, is now focusing fully on his R&D work as chief technology officer (CTO).

As sales manager for Korea in 2010-2012, Schulz is familiar with the needs of LayTec’s customers in Asia. In close collaboration with Dr Marcello Binetti, who has headed the support team for several years, he will help to further improve LayTec’s service quality in all global technology regions.

With an academic and industrial background in growing III-nitrides on silicon, Schulz will also strengthen LayTec’s Application Engineering to support customers in their technology migration towards larger silicon substrates.

“The new company structure is our answer to the market challenges,” says CEO Dr Thomas Zettler. “When the number of players grows and the quality expectations are getting higher, it is a must to deliver extraordinary after-sales service and to stay ahead by investing even more in new metrology developments,” he adds.
