Utility Scale PV Map details considerable growth in North American market

PV Insider has unveiled the Utility Scale PV Map – USA & Canada 2011, as part of the launch of the 2nd Utility Scale PV Plant Optimization Summit USA (17-18 November, San Jose).

With recent figures showing that the PV project pipeline in North America has exceeded 16.6GW, and with overall capacity set to grow more than 50 times by 2016, the map details the size and location of plants that are currently operating, under construction or planned. Additionally, the map lists the utilities that have agreed to purchase energy from plants that are yet completed, outlining the PPA contracts in place for future utility scale projects in an easy-to-read format.

The 2nd Utility Scale PV Plant Optimization Summit USA is set to attract leading industry experts who will discuss the greatest challenges faced in PV plant design and engineering.

“The plants included in the map are the cornerstone of securing the future of utility scale PV in North America, and the event is aimed at helping developers of these projects overcome the technical challenges faced in utility scale PV, to improve efficiency and lower costs.” says organizer Jack Ahearne.
