Luminus' PhlatLight LEDs illuminate Martin Professional's new MAC 350 Entour

Luminus Devices Inc of Billerica, MA, USA, which makes solid-state light sources for illumination applications, says it provides the light source inside Martin Professional's new MAC 350 Entour, the world's first high output LED-based, mercury-free, profile light.

Suited for touring and event environments, as well as permanent venues, such as theatres, the MAC 350 Entour is equipped with seven CBT-90 white PhlatLight LEDs, and has a total light output of 6,500 lumens. It has a lifespan of more than 25,000 hours, compared with around 3,000 hours for traditional high intensity discharge (HID) lamps.

"With superior lumen output the CBT-90 PhlatLight LED provides lighting designers an ultra-bright, point-source of white light with superior optical coupling enabling new applications with better optical system efficiency," said Don McDaniel, director, global entertainment, Luminus Devices. "Big-chip PhlatLight LEDs are ideally suited for spot lights such as the MAC 350 Entour because they provide superior brightness and a lifetime of use for companies such as Martin."

"The MAC 350 Entour is the entertainment lighting industry's first LED alternative to traditional HID-based profile fixtures and it exceeds traditional 300 watt fixtures in brightness," said Peter Skytte, product manager, Martin. "Award-winning PhlatLight LEDs are energy-efficient, contain no mercury and give Martin the ability to develop new, more cost-effective entertainment industry based lights that are ideal for a host of temporary and permanent environments."
