Group IV Semiconductor appoints Day and Desmarais


Maker of silicon-based solid-state light emitters Group IV Semiconductor of Ottawa, ON, Canada has appointed Bruce Day and Louis P. Desmarais to its Board of Directors.

"In structuring our Board of Directors, we wanted individuals who had deep experience with the management of emerging companies and disruptive technology.  Bruce and Louis both fit that profile and their input will help drive the company forward”, said Stephen Naor, CEO of Group IV.

Bruce Day sits on the Board of fiber optic components and telecommunications equipment manufacturer JDS Uniphase. He was formerly VP, Corporate Development at Rogers Communications Inc. Day also sits on the Board of Integrated Asset Management Corp. He has more than 20 years of experience in senior posts in corporate development, finance and treasury.

Louis Desmarais is general partner and CEO of Garage Technology Ventures Canada.  He has many years of experience as a venture capitalist including several years as general partner of Skypoint Capital Corporation. Group IV says that Desmarais' knowledge of the financial services sector and his work with many early stage technology companies will benefit the firm.
