Anadigics slashes PA power consumption with ZeroIC

Anadigics Inc of Warren, NJ, USA, which makes RFICs and front-end solutions for wireless handsets and broadband communications, has introduced a new family of CDMA 1X and 1XEVDO power amplifiers (PAs).

According to Anadigics, the new ZeroIC PA family cuts average current consumption by up to 50% over the company's HELP technology and up to 85% over conventional two-stage amplifiers.

Based on Anadigics’ InGaP-Plus technology, the new products incorporate a feature that reduces the power consumption of the PA to zero at low power levels, and as most handsets transmit at low power levels in a fully populated network, this feature reduces the handset’s power consumption.

At 3.0 x 3.0mm with a height of 1.0mm, the company says that the new PAs are ideal for designers of ultra slim and compact products. The PAs also integrate an internal voltage regulator to further reduce space.

The ZeroIC family of products include: AWT6331 for US Cellular Band, AWT6332 for PCS Band, AWT6334 for Japan Cell Band, AWT6335 for IMT band.
