Title: Sr. Staff Engineer

Shift: 1st

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Responsible to support Metal-Organic Vapor Phase Epitaxial (MOVPE) growth for research and development contracts in the Advanced Technology Programs (ATP) group while working within the operations group. Areas of research and development include custom epitaxial structures for space and terrestrial solar cells and for custom sensors products. (APD’s, LPC’s etc.) Person will develop and conduct own original research and act as a crystal growth expert and advisor for the ATP group on internal and external research programs.

EDUCATION DESIRED:

Masters degree in Materials Engineering, Physics, Electrical Engineering or Chemical Engineering. PhD degree preferred.

EXPERIENCE DESIRED:

Prior experience in high volume production using reactive gases, toxic or flammable materials, and vacuum equipment. Ideal candidate has experience with MOVPE on high-volume, production equipment or own original graduate research on similar equipment. Good understanding of optoelectronic device physics and material science of III-V materials, their use in device design and their characterization methods also important.

KNOWLEDGE DESIRED:

Knowledge of gas phase chemistry, chemical reaction engineering, materials engineering, device physics, toxic / flammable material handling, vacuum system design, statistical process control. Candidate must be computer literate, have excellent written and oral communication skills and interpersonal skills.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

Must be a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident. Valid US drivers license.
