MACOM adds three 80–100GHz wideband control products

At the IEEE International Microwave Symposium (IMS 2020) virtual event (4–6 August), MACOM Technology Solutions Inc of Lowell, MA, USA (which makes semiconductors, components and subassemblies for analog RF, microwave, millimeter-wave and photonic applications) has launched three new wideband diode products:

  • the MASW-011111-DIE, a wideband single-pole, double-throw (SPDT) switch that offers 0.8dB insertion loss over the operating frequency range with 25dB of isolation;
  • the MAAV-011014-DIE, a wideband voltage-variable attenuator (VVA) that offers <3dB insertion loss, >25dB attenuation range and return loss >10dB in all attenuation states; and
  • the MAAD-011038-DIE, a wideband 3-bit step digital attenuator with 1dB LSB, 7dB attenuation range and return loss >12dB in all attenuation states.

Manufactured using MACOM’s patented aluminium gallium arsenide (AlGaAs) PIN diode process, the new products are said to be the microwave industry’s first integrated W-band diode products that operate at frequencies of 80–100GHz while also achieving high linearity and P1dB (output power at 1dB compression point) of about +25dBm.

The new parts are suitable for applications including aerospace & defense, medical, passive imaging, radiometry, SatCom and test instrumentation.
