Skyworks launches shielded GPS LNA front-end modules for mobile applications

Skyworks Solutions Inc of Woburn, MA, USA (which manufactures analog and mixed-signal semiconductors) has introduced the SKY65725-11 and the SKY65728-11 shielded GPS low-noise amplifier front-end modules (FEMs) - available in compact 1.6 x 1.6 packages - for mobile applications such as smartphones and tablets.

Both devices are said to feature high linearity, excellent gain and superior noise figure to enable design flexibility and high levels of integration. Pre-filters provide the low in-band insertion loss and excellent rejections of the cellular, PCS and WLAN frequency bands.

The SKY65725-11 (in a 1.6mm x 1.6mm x 0.75mm shielded package) is suitable for GPS/GNSS/BDS receivers while the SKY65728-11 (in a 1.6mm x 1.6mm x 0.7mm shielded package) works well for GPS L5 applications. The highly integrated, shielded modules can be placed closer to the antenna, improving receiver sensitivity that is necessary for today’s mobile devices.
