MACOM launches dual- and quad-channel 64GBaud TIAs for 600G applications

MACOM Technology Solutions Inc of Lowell, MA, USA (which makes semiconductors, components and subassemblies for analog RF, microwave, millimeter-wave and photonic applications) has announced the availability of new dual- and quad-channel 64GBaud transimpedance amplifiers (TIAs) for coherent applications at up to 600G.

The dual-channel MATA-006806 and quad-channel MATA-006406 offer the low noise, low power and high bandwidth required to enable integrated coherent receivers (ICRs) and integrated coherent transmit-receive optical sub-assemblies (IC-TROSAs) operating at data rates of up to 600Gbps per wavelength in telecom and data-center interconnect (DCI) applications.

Today’s increased demand for data capacity in metro and DCI applications is driven by new trends like the Internet of Things (IoT), virtual reality (VR) and artificial intelligence (AI), notes MACOM, whose 64GBaud driver and TIA solutions address the market transition from 100G/200G to 400/600G coherent systems. The new TIAs feature high transimpedance gain, high bandwidth, low input referred noise and low total harmonic distortion (THD) to support up to 64Gbaud symbol rates and 64 QAM modulation. The MATA-006806 has purely analog control while the MATA-006406 includes both analog and integrated serial peripheral interface (SPI) control for full digital operation.

“We’re extending our leadership to supporting new 600G ICR designs, and engaging with all tier-1 customers to qualify in our TIA,” says senior product marketing manager Rajiv Somisetty. “MACOM’s TIA devices will provide customers with essential low noise and high performance. Partnered with our quad channel drivers, these solutions will ease the design and development cycle of our customers,” he adds.

The new TIAs can be bundled with quad-channel drivers like MACOM’s MAOM-006408 or MAOM-006412 for IC-TROSA applications.
