NeoPhotonics giving live demos of new products for 100G to 600G telecom and datacenter networks

In booth 3017 at the Optical Fiber Communications (OFC) conference & exhibition in Los Angeles (21-23 March), NeoPhotonics Corp of San Jose, CA, USA (a vertically integrated designer and manufacturer of hybrid photonic integrated optoelectronic modules and subsystems for high-speed communications networks) is conducting live demonstrations of 100G-600G transmission products.

The demonstrations are enabled by new products for high-speed 100G-600G telecom, client-side and data-center networks, including a 64Gbaud/64 QAM CFP2-ACO pluggable module, a 64Gbaud micro modulator (Micro-MOD), a CFP-DCO coherent pluggable transponder, an 8x16 multi-cast switch and a 400G CFP8-LR8 10km transceiver. The individual demonstrations are as follows:

  • A 64Gbaud Micro-MOD featuring co-packaged linear, high-bandwidth, differential drivers. Optical signal-to-noise ratio (OSNR) measurements are being conducted at dual-polarization 16 QAM and higher-order constellations.
  • 64Gbaud CFP2-ACO pluggable coherent transceiver module. OSNR measurements are being conducted at dual-polarization 16 QAM and higher-order constellations.
  • 200G CFP2-ACO Class 2 transceiver module at 100G using DP-QPSK modulation and 200G using 16 QAM.
  • ClearLight 100G CFP-DCO pluggable coherent transceiver, including operation through NeoPhotonics’ new 8x16 multi-cast switch, illustrating how the high-transmitter OSNR of the CFP-DCO module increases the performance of colorless, directionless, contentionless (CDC) networks.
  • 10km 400G CFP8-LR8 PAM4 transceiver module measuring bit error rate (BER) performance.

“These products represent the most significant and extensive product introductions for NeoPhotonics and we believe that they will be key to our customer’s next-generation applications,” says chairman & CEO Tim Jenks. “To reach the highest possible speeds in a pluggable module, each component must also be the highest performance while meeting the form factor and power consumption requirements of module operation, as we achieve with our advanced hybrid photonics integration technology,” he adds.

In addition, chief technology officer Dr Winston Way is giving a talk at ‘High Bandwidth Components for Single-Lambda 400G Coherent Systems’ as part of the OFC conference’s Market Watch Panel ‘Market Outlook for High Bandwidth Optical Technologies’ on 21 March (12:30-2pm).

Also at OFC, NeoPhotonics is exhibiting its suite of standard and small-form-factor photonic integrated circuit (PIC)-based components for 100G-600G coherent line-side applications, along with its 100G-600G client-side and data-center CFP2 and CFP8 transceivers, and its multi-cast switches for contentionless reconfigurable optical add-drop multiplexers (ROADMs).
