GigPeak showcasing 100G PSM4, CWDM4 and LR4 for datacom connectivity with live demo at OFC
In booth #3231 at the Optical Fiber Communications Conference & Exhibition (OFC 2017) in Los Angeles (21-23 March), GigPeak Inc of San Jose, CA, USA (formerly GigOptix) - which provides integrated circuits and software solutions for high-speed connectivity and high-quality video compression over the network and the cloud – is showcasing a live demonstration of its 100GbE PSM4, CWDM4 and LR4 chipset utilizing transmitter optical sub-assembly (TOSA) and receiver optical sub-assembly (ROSA) assembly reference designs.
Designed to address 100G datacom requirements, the demo features GigPeak’s quad-channel 28Gbps directly modulated laser (DML) driver packaged with a commercially available DML in a TOSA and GigPeak’s quad-channel 28Gbps transimpedance amplifier (TIA) packaged with a commercially available photodiode (PD) in a ROSA using Shijia Photon’s TOSA/ROSA design and packaging capabilities. The 10km link will use GigPeak’s HXC42400 100G CDR (clock & data recovery) chip. The reference design allows ease-of-evaluation and integration with the readily available designs.
The HXT42400 and the HXR42400 samples are currently available on evaluation boards with a convenient digital user interface. Samples are also available in die form for those wishing to evaluate GigPeak’s DML driver and TIA in their own platform. The firm will also be sampling 56Gbps PAM4 DML drivers and TIAs in both die form as well as TOSA and ROSA reference designs in second-half 2017.
GigPeak’s live datacom demo at OFC showcases the following products:
- the HXT42400, a 4-channel, low-power DML driver array for 100G PSM4, CWDM4 and LR4 optical applications that supports channel data rates up to 28Gbps and optical reach up to 10km;
- the HXR42400, a 4-channel 28Gbps TIA with an integrated limiting amplifier receiver array designed for 100G PSM4, CWDM4 and LR4 optical applications that supports channel data rates up to 28Gbps and optical reach up to 10km; and
- the HXC42400, a 28Gbps 4-channel CDR/re-time for 100G Ethernet SR4/LR4 optical transmitter pluggable modules and active optical cables (AOCs).
The above products, as well as the HXT44400 quad-channel 56Gbps PAM4 DML driver, HXR44400 quad-channel 56Gbps PAM4 TIA, and HXC44400 quad-channel 56Gbps CDR/Retimer are on display at OFC.
