RFMD adds microwave voltage-controlled attenuator for high-linearity power control

RF Micro Devices Inc of Greensboro, NC, USA has launched a broadband, microwave voltage-controlled attenuator.

The RFSA2113 provides a complete monolithic solution in a small 3mm x 3mm QFN package and operates over a frequency range of 50MHz to 18GHz. It also incorporates a new circuit architecture that offers high IP3, high attenuation range, low DC current, broad bandwidth and a temperature-compensated linear-in-dB control voltage characteristic. The attenuator’s temperature-stable operation allows the elimination of off-chip calibration and correction circuitry, reducing both cost and DC power requirements.

Real-world applications for the RFSA2113 include wireless backhaul, test instrumentation, military and satellite communications.

The RSFA2113, along with other RFMD radio frequency and semiconductor technologies, were exhibited at the IEEE MTT-S International Microwave Symposium (IMS 2013) in Seattle, WA, USA (4-6 June). Production samples are available now.
