Hainan Airlines offers Ascent Solar’s EnerPlex Kickr IV to purchase in-flight

Ascent Solar Technologies Inc of Thornton, CO, USA (maker of copper indium gallium diselenide (CIGS) thin-film photovoltaic modules, which it integrates into its EnerPlex series of consumer products), says that its EnerPlex Kickr IV (a portable solar charger) is now available to purchase on all of Hainan Airlines’ over 500 domestic and international routes, including those of its subsidiaries: Shanxi, Chang’an and China Xinhua Airlines.

In addition to Hainan Airlines’ in-flight sales offering, on-line platform and mileage exchange program, Kickr IV will also be featured in Hainan’s ‘Thirty Thousand Miles’ in-flight magazine.

“Hainan Airlines continually looks to offer its discerning passengers the newest and most novel premium products; the inclusion of Ascent’s ground-breaking EnerPlex product line allows Hainan Airlines to cater to our customers by providing them with a product choice which many travelers never imagined existed,” says Tracy Sun, Hainan’s Aircraft Media project director.

“The ability of travelers to purchase our EnerPlex product in-flight as well as through Hainan’s mileage exchange program is a novel and exciting avenue for us to reach our core consumers, those who travel frequently and are often not near an outlet, in a way not before possible,” said Ascent Solar’s president & CEO Victor Lee.
