Oclaro expands board with former Sun exec Peterson

Optical component, module and subsystem maker Oclaro Inc of San Jose, CA, USA has appointed industry veteran Marissa Peterson to its board of directors.

The firm says that Peterson brings substantial management and operational experience, including 17 years at Sun Microsystems, where she was executive VP, worldwide operations, services & customer advocacy in Santa Clara, CA until her retirement in 2005.

“Marissa’s experience with global customer advocacy programs and expertise in supply chain and logistics management will enable Oclaro to better serve its global customer base,” says chairman & CEO Alain Couder.

“Oclaro has achieved a tremendous transformation to become a tier-one supplier of innovative optical communications and laser solutions,” comments Peterson. “I look forward to working with the company’s management team and board of directors to expand its market position, and further strengthen its reputation as a customer-focused, highly efficient industry leader,” she adds.

Peterson currently serves on the board of directors for Ansell Ltd, Humana, Quantros and the Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital at Stanford, and previously served on the board of directors of SUPERVALU INC and the board of trustees of Kettering University. She also runs an executive coaching practice focused on helping grow and develop leaders in the high-technology space.
