Tekcore orders multiple new-generation Aixtron AIX G5 HT systems

Deposition equipment maker Aixtron AG of Aachen-Herzogenrath, Germany says that Tekcore Co Ltd of Taiwan has placed a multiple order for its latest MOCVD system, the AIX G5 HT, to expand its high-brightness LED (HB-LED) manufacturing capacity.

The order was received shortly after Aixtron announced the launch of its next-generation MOCVD systems AIX G5 HT and CRIUS II. Aixtron says that it has already received multiple purchase orders for tools of both technologies.

Based on the proven Planetary Reactor design, the AIX G5 HT features what is claimed to be the largest wafer capacity available (56x2-inch/14x4-inch/8x6-inch) in combination with new reactor design features providing the highest productivity and layer quality by allowing very high growth rates at high process pressures. The tool capabilities also include fully automated operation and advanced fab integration.

“With the introduction of our new innovative technologies in our next-generation platform, the AIX G5 HT, we provide a revolutionary new reactor design to our customers that enables more than a doubling of productivity compared to the previous MOCVD generation,” says Dr Rainer Beccard, VP marketing.

Earlier this month, Tekcore announced plans to issue 100 million new shares through a private placement that could raise NT$3bn (US$94.4m) to fund the purchase of new MOCVD reactors. The firm aims to boost its number of MOCVD reactors from 27 at the end of 2009 to 37–38 by the end of second-quarter 2010, according to a Digitimes report.
