5N Plus inks long-term supply and recycling deal with CdTe thin-film PV manufacturer Calyxo

5N Plus Inc of Montreal, Canada, a producer and provider of high-purity metals and compounds for electronic applications, has signed a long-term supply and recycling agreement with thin-film PV manufacturer Calyxo GmbH (founded in 2005 by solar cell maker Q-Cells) of Bitterfeld-Wolfen, Germany.

5N Plus subsidiary 5N PV GmbH will provide semiconductor compounds, including cadmium telluride and cadmium sulphide, to Calyxo. Furthermore, the agreement includes long-term PV module and production scrap recycling services.

Jacques L'Écuyer, 5N Plus president and CEO, said: "We are pleased to have entered into this agreement with Calyxo as we aim to further support their ambitious growth plans. Calyxo and Q-cells have been at the forefront of PV technology for many years and we are excited about the future prospects of our collaboration. In 2006, we made the strategic decision to set-up a new manufacturing facility in Germany to support the growth of the German and European PV industry. As a result our German subsidiary 5N PV GmbH is now ideally suited to provide both the critical semiconductor compounds and recycling services required by Calyxo."
