OPEL expands US sales force with director of regional sales

OPEL International Inc of Shelton, CT, USA and Toronto, Canada, which makes high-concentration photovoltaic (HCPV) panels (as well as both roof- and ground-based dual- and single-axis solar trackers for mounting them), says that John Rieger has joined the OPEL Solar team in the newly created role of director of regional sales, responsible for business development and sales in the USA and Canada.

Rieger will be based in Massachusetts and will handle OPEL’s dealer network expansion and project sales. Frank Middleton, VP marketing for OPEL Solar Inc, reckons that, by having him cover the eastern regions of the USA and Canada, OPEL Solar Inc can increase its responsiveness to customers and capitalize on the rapid growth of solar business in the Eastern US spurred by Department of Energy grants to states and other solar incentive programs.

“The expansion of our solar sales force in the US is in response to an increase in solar quoting activity,” says OPEL International’s CEO Robert Pico. “It also aligns with the country’s green energy initiatives, the vision to generate new US jobs and to grow the US economic structure using clean energy incentives,” he adds.

Rieger has more than 25 years of sales and engineering experience at Telco Systems, Digital Equipment Corp, TranSwitch Corp and Picolight Inc, including account management, sales team management, marketing, and product engineering (involving the launch of several new products to market). Most recently, he was sales engineer at Semitech Solutions. Rieger also has a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from West Michigan University and a Master of Business Administration degree from Boston College.
