Avago launches energy-efficient 1W LED for solid-state lighting

Avago Technologies of San Jose, CA, USA has launched a competitively priced 1 Watt high-power LED emitter ($1.70 each in 1000 piece quantities) for use in solid-state lighting applications.

Encapsulated in a heat- and UV-resistant silicone resin compound for high reliability and long operating life, the energy-efficient ASMT-Ax00 LED features a low-profile package design (suiting applications where height is a constraint), a wide 130º viewing angle, and the ability to handle high thermal and drive currents (with an exposed metal slug giving good heat dissipation).

Solid-state lighting equipment makers are constantly in need of brighter, more reliable high-power LED packages. By delivering a high flux output of up to 76 lumens at a drive current of 350mA, the ASMT-Ax00 features a maximum allowable junction temperature of 125ºC and high electrostatic discharge (ESD) resistance of 16kV. It is also compatible with standard SMT reflow soldering processes to provide lighting designers with more freedom and flexibility in designing their applications.

Available in red, amber, green, blue, cool white, neutral white, and warm white colors, the LED is suited to use in architectural, contour, retail display, decorative and garden lighting applications.
