Skyworks' PAs power recent additions to LG's handset range

Skyworks Solutions of Woburn, Mass, USA says it is gaining traction at LG Electronics due to strong demand for its suite of front-end solutions. Skyworks is at the heart of several of LG's recently introduced models, including the LG-KF700, LG-KF600, LG-KF610 and LG-KF510.

  • A slim, tri-band slider package, the LG-KF700, supported by the SKY77329 power amplifier (PA), is the world's first multimedia phone that combines three input methods: a three-inch touchscreen display; slide-out alpha-numeric keypad, and shortcut dial at the back. In addition, users can flip through numerous applications, including a calendar, scheduler and memo pad.
  • Powered by the SKY77340 PA, the LG-KF600 is an award-winning slider mobile phone. Its InteractPad replaces physical navigation keys with context-specific virtual keys.
  • Also supported by the SKY77340 PA, the LG-KF510 is a 10.9 mm thick tri-band slider phone.
  • Equipped with the SKY77519 FEM, the LG-KT610 candy bar mobile phone offers multimedia features and applications based on Symbian OS, HSDPA connectivity at 3.6 Mbps, GPS navigation, and a PC-like QWERTY keypad with push-email functionality.

"Skyworks is delighted to be supporting LG Electronics with our family of front-end solutions as they increasingly launch ultra-slim, feature-rich and easy-to-use mobile handsets," said Liam K. Griffin, senior vice president, sales and marketing for Skyworks. "In fact, based on the exciting response to their latest generation of wireless platforms at Mobile World Congress last week in Barcelona, Spain, we expect LG to be a catalyst for accelerating growth for Skyworks throughout 2008. Further, we believe our highly integrated GSM and EDGE front-end modules complemented by our WCDMA solutions are well aligned to meet LG's increasing 3G needs. Our success at LG and at others reflects our unique ability to provide customized architectures which incorporate all critical WCDMA bands working in concert with our selection of 2.5G or 2G FEMs. As the market transitions to multi-mode and multi-band 3G implementations, Skyworks is well positioned to lead in both performance and integration."
